Zane Tankel graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School in 1962 with a B.S. in Economics. He is the founder and partner of Apple Metro, Inc., the New York franchisee for Applebee’s International, a chain of family restaurants in and about the New York metropolitan area.

Zane Tankel’s business affiliations currently are: Board member of American Achievement Corporation, and member of their Compensation Committee; Board member of Marie Callendar Restaurants; Board member of World Presidents Organization; Board member and member of Executive Committee of Metropolitan Presidents’ Organization; Founding Director and Member of Executive Committee of Federal Law Enforcement Foundation; President of Concerned Citizens of Alpine.

Some of his past affiliations have been the Boys Choir of Harlem where he was the Founder and Chairman of the Advisory Committee. Zane has also served as Chairman of the New York Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization. He coordinated the printed material for the Presidential campaigns of President Jimmy Carter in 1976 and 1980. Zane was also a member of the Inaugural Committee in 1976.

With all of these numerous business accomplishments to his name, Zane Tankel has also found time to do many adventurous things in his personal life. He was a member of the “Everest Light” Canadian Mount Everest Expedition; a member of the 1984 North Pole Expedition, and has made four trans-Atlantic crossings in 42’ sailboat. Zane is also interested in cycling and holds a seconddegree black belt in karate.
