A Letter from the Chairman

Dear Friends:

On behalf of each member of the board and personally, I congratulate and welcome General James T. Conway, 34th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps and the Honorable Robert M. Morgenthau, District Attorney of New York County, award recipients. supporters and friends.

It is an honor and a privilege to be in the company of distinguished heroes. You have pledged to protect and safeguard our freedom that was won with the courage and blood of the fallen. Everyday you go in harm's way and we acknowledge your efforts and promise to always be there for you and your families.

I am proud to recognize my fellow board members, who have dedicated their resources and time away frorn their families to fulfill the foundation's mission, which is to provide a safety net for you and your families. I thank them for their guidance, support and commitment.

Howard J. Rubenstein was instrumental in planning this year's annual luncheon and we thank him. Heroes' Night, the Executive Education Program, the scholarship program, the Wellness Center, antigang and crimestopper initiatives, Big Brother/Big Sister programs, CEO Day, grants to numerous fraternal organizations, and widou' and orphans funds continue to be the foundation's primary programs.

Next year, we will honor the fallen and their families at a very special evening. Zane Tankel and Charles Merinoff, our new treasurer, will again co-chair Heroes' Night.

A special thanks to Robefi Rosen and his family who have been very generous over the years. Bob, our fomer treasurer, continues to serve as scholarship chairman.

For thc third time, Jamie Coulter has pledged $100,000 in matching funds in addition to his generous donation. We thank him for his continued dedication.

Howard P. Milstein and the Milstein family, noted philanthropists, have been major supporters of the ibundation. They incur the expense of staff and overhead that allows the foundation to operate. New York Private Bank and Emigrant Savings Bank, have again graciously sponsored the reception for all our guests. We are fortunate to have them as benefactors.
